I’m Julie Spink, available where you need me, when you need me. Since the 1980s, I’ve been committed to being the best at what I do, serving clients by not just meeting their expectations, but exceeding them.

My passion for anything Spanish started when I was a teenager, having a teacher who clearly inspired her students by her obvious love of the language, country and its culture. My passion for teaching and coaching started with having a child with special needs who has developed into a wonderful young lady.

My career started as a Bilingual Secretary working in Rome for The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) where I worked in Spanish, French and English. Although my role was secretarial, there were many occasions when I needed to translate or write letters in Spanish or French – especially when I spent some time working in the Director General’s Office and had to correspond with foreign governments on his behalf.

After returning to England to bring up my family, I qualified as a Further and Higher Education Tutor for Adults.  During 11 successful, happy years working in Adult Education, I was also asked to translate private documents for individuals and a large presentation project commissioned by BT Telecom Security. As I was involved with running a UK-based charity for the genetic disorder 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome at that time, I was invited to present in Spanish at an umbrella group for support groups in Barcelona and in French in Paris.

After working for The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for several years as a Personal Advisor/Work Coach, where I was often asked to interpret and translate documents for Spanish clients, as well as coach them towards gainful employment, I then returned to full-time education at Manchester Metropolitan University for 4 years to gain a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Spanish with Italian in 2018, specialising in Spanish to English translation.

My role as a Work Coach gave me the opportunity to help hundreds of clients write or update their CV and find suitable employment.  I have also worked freelance writing CVs and translating from Spanish to English. Many of these clients needed support with family and personal issues before reaching the stage of making job applications and finding their dream job.

During my time in university, I continued to translate for friends and family and project managed a team at university when we translated a selection of children’s online stories from Spanish to English. You can find a sample of one of the stories by clicking the following link:
